History

Tracing its roots to Channel Express Air Services, Jet2.com has operated in the UK for more than 30 years. The airline began as a freight operator in 1978 as Express Air Service, adding international passenger charter services in 2001. Reflecting its origins, Jet2.com's call sign remains "Channex". With a new focus on primarily leisure passenger flights, the airline adopted its current name in 2003. Originally headquartered in Bournemouth, the airline relocated its base to Leeds in 2006. Jet2.com's first flight was between Leeds Bradford International Airport and Amsterdam. In its first year of operation, the airline transported some 360,000 travellers. By 2012, Jet2.com carried more than 4.7 million passengers. Since it began operating, Jet2.com has used a distinctive all-silver livery with its website along each aircraft's body.
